Gavin's birthday was a wonderful day! It was just how I imagined it to be. Gavin was welcomed into the world surrounded by family and friends.
Early labor started Saturday evening with a few contractions but I knew once they started that Gavin would be arriving in the next 24 hours. I went to bed around 10 pm and woke up a little after midnight with contractions every 3-4 minutes. My midwife and her nurse arrived around 4:15 am and I was 6 cm. I spent the next few hours walking around and enjoying the company of those around me. By 6:30 I was 9 cm and thought we would be meeting Gavin pretty soon. I guess he was pretty comfortable where he was because he wasn't born until 9:17! He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz -my smallest baby- and was 20 1/4 inches -my longest baby-! There were so many things I cherished about this home birth! I'd have to say one of the best parts was climbing into MY OWN bed that afternoon to rest and snuggle my sweet new bundle. I hope you enjoy the photos!
This was around 4:30 am, shortly after my midwife arrived.
My midwife and the nurse that assisted her hanging out with the dogs.
My dear friend, Amy, who video taped Gavin's birth. (Don't worry, the video isn't on here lol)
Waiting patiently for Gavin to arrive.
Josephine testing out the water. She was a big help!
Lillian preferred to watch Barney on the sofa:)
Still waiting.....
Daddy holding his minutes old son!
The girls getting a close up view of their new baby brother!
Resting on the couch just after Gavin's birth.
So relieved to be done with that!

Look how adorable he is!!
First family of 5 photo. Despite the excitement of the morning Lillian was more interested in breakfast:)
Josephine is a proud big sister!
Josephine loves holding Gavin. Lillian didn't want to at first but quickly followed big sister's example and wants to "hold it" all the time now too. She also loves to "kiss the baby" on his head.
